Surfaces Rendered Ltd carried out the plastering of a new garage in Tunbridge Wells. The site is in a sensitive 'Arcadian conservation area' and the appearance was very important. The garage has a slate roof and the walls are in blockwork rendered and scored to simulate ashlar stonework. This is a traditional finish to Victorian buildings in Tunbridge Wells and, in this case it matched the adjacent building on the neighbouring site. Surfaces Rendered carried out a very good job showing a sound grasp of traditional methods. The external corners were formed using temporary battens rather than metal corner beads. The scoring was carried out neatly to my drawings with a narrow groove with a square section to simulate the slightly recessed bed joint of good quality stonework. I was very pleased with the finished work.

Surfaces Rendered were contracted to undertake removal of old lime render from two external elevations on a 200 year old Late Georgian property, where the original render had partially failed and had been poorly patched. As the walls were of solid construction the elevations had to be re-rendered with a lime, rather than cement, based render. The original render had been block marked and this was a feature that was to be replicated on the new render.
I found Marcus and his team to be fully conversant with and to understand and be sensitive to what was needed for heritage work. At all times I was kept informed of what was happening on the job. I found the company to take an immense pride in the quality of the work even taking pains to match an old terracotta air-brick that crumbled during render removal. I am very pleased with the quality and cost of the work and consider that it has been done to the highest standard with a complete understanding of my requirements. At all times were the team courteous and made sure that the site was left clean and clear of debris. A final clean up has been promised once the site is clear of scaffolding. I would have no hesitation in using Surfaces Rendered again and throughly recommend them to anyone considering such work.
